Writer’s Craft (foreshadow) – Zack Knew from the Start.
When Princess Quinnella first went to school with Adam and Sarah, she rode on a school bus. This was when she first meets the school jock, Zack. From the first time he saw Quinn, he was interested in her. Zack’s first words were, “‘Who’s this?’ Taking hold of Quinn’s chin, he jerked her face upward so he could get a better look at her.” (62) This bothered her so she wished he would let go, but what she did not realize was that the magic ring works on Earth as well so when she wished for him to let go, a spark crackled between them. This was the starting point of Zack’s suspicion on Quinn. He knew something was different about her. He tells her in the beginning, “I’ll see you later, little cousin.” (63) In school, Zack kept a sharp eye on her and continuously watched her every move. This suspicion of Zack’s, foreshadows what will happen towards the end of the book. Zack finds out enough information about the magical power Quinn has and also about the ring and the wishing pool at Wonderland. The foreshadowing of this event is more clearly shown when Zack agrees to “joust” against Adam. The only reason Zack agreed to this particular challenge was to try and get Quinn to use her powers to help Adam. His plan did not work as expected but this did not stop him from trying to find out who Quinn really was and what her secret was. He knew she had some sort of power and he wasn’t going to let anything stop him from getting to this.

Writer’s Craft (metaphor) – What is the ring in Princess Nevermore?
The ring in the novel, Princess Nevermore, signifies magic, power, and love. Literally speaking, the ring is a magic ring. It allows the person wearing it (I think you have to be from kingdom of Mandria) to make things that they truly wish come true. But as this ring comes to Earth, it becomes nothing more than a power figure. When Zack finds out about the magical powers that the ring holds; he tries to get the ring from Quinn by not letting her out of his sight and being very forceful with her. However, he ends up failing to get the ring because of Quinn’s cleverness; in addition, she knew that if the rings got into the hands of someone like Zack, something very terrible could happen. She knew he would only use it for his own evil purposes. The ring also signifies love. The love that was shared between Adam and Quinn basically ends in reality but lasts through the ring forever. Quinn left the magic ring on Earth with Adam as she returned to the kingdom of Mandria. Even though they will never get to see each other and as the time goes by, the ring will always be there and it will store their relationship in an unseen but a very magical place. For example, to support this, as Adam touched the ring in the end wishing Quinn would appear; she doesn’t. However, what does happen (quoting from the novel) is that “A gust of wind blew something against his knee. Adam picked up the blue rose he’d woven into Quinn’s braid the night before. Plucking the petals, he dropped them into the wishing pool, one by one.” (232) I believe their love for each other will continue to live on.
Five-Star Quote- Princess Nevermore
“Climbing the curve of the footbridge, he sank to his knees, peering into the blue-green pool. Are you there? He asked silently. Will I ever see you again?
He waited.
Nothing happened.
Touhing the ring once more, he wished her is love: My heart embraces you.
…
Adam picked up the blue rose he’d woven into Quinn’s braid the night before. Plucking the petals, he dropped them into the wishing pool, one by one.
- Narrator, Princess Nevermore, p. 232
I chose this quote as my five-star quote because this quote was very touching and almost too romantic. As I read this quote, my heart felt like it was melting, who wouldn’t want a guy that thinks of someone they love in this way. It is almost too sad to see this wonderful guy having to go through this pain and sorrow. I felt really bad for Adam because it shows that he really loved Princess Quinnella and the sad part is that he will most likely never get to see her ever again. The line where Adam says, “My heart embraces you.” Aahh…these words are so relaxing and beautiful. If most guys used these words to their girlfriend, I bet they will all fall for it pretty darn well. (*Boys but this doesn’t mean that you can use it if you do not mean it.)

Original- Synposis of Princess Nevermore
This blog entry is called Synopsis because you need to write a summary of the book in a way that people who have never read this book would want to read it. You cannot spoil the end of this novel but have fun with it in writing it very creatively. Remember the whole point of this entry is that you want to sell this novel to the people and make them want to read it.
This story is about the one journey Princess Quinnella had always wanted to experiences. It starts out; there are two different worlds in this novel, the place called Earth and the place called Mandria. This does not seem all that different or interesting you may say, but wait, what makes this novel interesting is that the princess of Mandria enters Earth knowing the existence of the this world, whereas the so-called Earth, does not know that the kingdom of Mandria exists, considering Mandria is under the wishing pool at Wonderland. The secret of Mandria is meant to stay this way. So as you read this novel, will the princess be able to keep her secret about her kingdom or not? Will Earth be able to keep the secret of Mandria? Read this book to see how risky this secret is on Earth and will Princess Quinnella every go back home?

Personal- Princess Nevermore
As I read Princess Nevermore, I felt myself connecting to Princess Quinnella. Princess Quinnella had always wanted to go to Earth, regardless of the danger and risk she will end up with. Due to her curiosity and obstinacy, the word danger and risk never clicked into her brain, even when Melikar tried to warn her about it. But as she enters Earth, she realized what she had got herself into and wished she had taken Melikar’s advice. I relate to this because a lot of times my parents will try to warn me about something in ahead of times but due to my stubbornness and inquisitiveness, I ignore their advice and later come to realization when it’s too late to back out. For example, this is a situation that occurred to me just recently. I had signed up to go to two missions’ trip and had paid my deposit money for both, way ahead of time. My parents sent me to the first one without hesitation but the second trip they were not to sure because of the money. Well, due to my stubbornness and wanting to go on another mission’s trip where I haven’t been, I told myself that I’m going to go and did not handle this situation in ahead of time. Two-three weeks before the trip is to leave, I came to realization that I was being very selfish with my parents money even after all that I’ve spent this year for college apps and other things. So I decided to go talk to Student Life Ministry to back out but by the time I went and talked to them it was too late and the deposit money was non-refundable. So feeling terrible and guilty towards my parents I will end up going on another mission’s trip but I really wished I had listened to my parents earlier because how I really feel really bad and sorry, spending their money without thinking twice and for thinking only about myself.
