The ring in the novel, Princess Nevermore, signifies magic, power, and love. Literally speaking, the ring is a magic ring. It allows the person wearing it (I think you have to be from kingdom of Mandria) to make things that they truly wish come true. But as this ring comes to Earth, it becomes nothing more than a power figure. When Zack finds out about the magical powers that the ring holds; he tries to get the ring from Quinn by not letting her out of his sight and being very forceful with her. However, he ends up failing to get the ring because of Quinn’s cleverness; in addition, she knew that if the rings got into the hands of someone like Zack, something very terrible could happen. She knew he would only use it for his own evil purposes. The ring also signifies love. The love that was shared between Adam and Quinn basically ends in reality but lasts through the ring forever. Quinn left the magic ring on Earth with Adam as she returned to the kingdom of Mandria. Even though they will never get to see each other and as the time goes by, the ring will always be there and it will store their relationship in an unseen but a very magical place. For example, to support this, as Adam touched the ring in the end wishing Quinn would appear; she doesn’t. However, what does happen (quoting from the novel) is that “A gust of wind blew something against his knee. Adam picked up the blue rose he’d woven into Quinn’s braid the night before. Plucking the petals, he dropped them into the wishing pool, one by one.” (232) I believe their love for each other will continue to live on.
